Bartender Diaries: Drunken Dodo by Jamal Lacour

This "new classic" cocktail is from famed New York bar Death and Co . They recently came out with a great cocktail book which you can buy here. While many of the cocktails can be a little too much for the beginning or intermediate home enthusiasts, this one is easy to make and shows off each spirit quite nicely. St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram is a great spirit known mainly for it's use in the Lion's Tale, but is popping up in a lot of new cocktails. Buy a bottle, and as it is always a supporting player, so a bottle will last you a long time.


Drunken Dodo

2oz Rum (I used Doorly’s)

3/4 oz Carpano Antica Sweet Vermouth

1/4 oz St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram

2 dashes angostura bitters


Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass. Fill with ice, stir until well-chilled, 30-40 seconds. Strain into a coupe.
